Privacy Policy
Effective 28 August 2026 · Applies to the Perch app for iPhone and Apple Watch
Perch is built so that what you tell it stays on your device. We do not have user accounts, we do not run analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not sell or share personal data. This page explains exactly what the app stores, what leaves your device, and what your choices are.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter or do in Perch is stored locally on your iPhone (and mirrored to your Apple Watch if you use it): the answers you give during setup, the lines you keep, the lines you hide, your chosen mood, your reminder schedule, and your reading history. This data lives in the app's private storage and is protected by your device's own security. It is included in your iCloud or iTunes device backup if you have backups turned on, under Apple's backup terms. We cannot see it.
What leaves your device
| When | What is sent | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| You send feedback from Settings | The kind of feedback (bug or wish), the message you typed, your app version, iOS version and device model | Our feedback service, hosted on Cloudflare | To read and act on your feedback. It is stored without your name, email, or IP address, and forwarded to a private team chat. |
| You subscribe to Perch Plus | Your purchase is handled entirely by Apple | Apple | We receive only an anonymous confirmation that a subscription is active. We never see your payment details, Apple ID, or name. |
| You tap a crisis or help link | Your browser opens the third-party site | That site (for example findahelpline.com) | Those sites have their own privacy policies. |
Rate limiting. To protect the feedback service from abuse, it counts requests per day using a salted, one-way hash of the sender's IP address. The hash is stored separately from feedback content, cannot be reversed to your IP address, and is discarded after the day ends.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, sign-in, or email collection.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs from third parties.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data.
- No health data: Perch does not read or write Apple Health.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Perch schedules them locally on your device at the times you choose. No notification content passes through our servers.
Children
Perch is made for adults who are parents or caregivers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
- See or delete your data: everything Perch holds about you is on your device. Deleting the app deletes it. Restoring hidden lines and clearing kept lines is available in Settings.
- Feedback: feedback is anonymous, so we cannot link a message to you. If you included personal details in a message and want it removed, email us with the text and we will delete it.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or California you have rights to access, correct, delete, and object; because we hold no personal data server-side beyond anonymous feedback, these requests are fulfilled by the steps above or by email.
Security
The feedback service is served over HTTPS only. Stored feedback contains no identifiers. Access is limited to the developer.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the effective date here and note it in the app's release notes.
